Music Video Practice
To get an insight of what we are going to be doing in A2, we have practiced recording a music video and lip singing. The outcome was not great as we were lacking skills in both recording and lip singing. However, this experience has helped us figure out what we have to improve on for next year. Initially, our plan was to use 'make me wanna die' by The Pretty Reckless and we had a plan of what the video was going to be about yet we have joined in with another group. As we did not agree on the song choice we had to choose a song that the person who was going to lip sing knew by heart. In the end, we have decided to use 'not afraid' by Eminem and record everything in one shot. This turned out to be a bad idea as experience is required when filming a music video in one shot and many parts have to be repeated several times, which we did not have enough skills or time to do. This affected our music video as the lip singing was not quite in sync with the song. Also, we've learned that it is essential to know the song by heart so it does not look like the person is lip singing. Thanks to the mistakes we have made whilst recording and the lack of preparation, we have learned the importance of having a clear plan of what the actions are going to be and the importance of the location. Also, the video turned out to be unfocused as we lack camera skills, which we plan on improving on next year.
